The original, which released in 2015, was promoted as Tamil cinema’s first time travel movie. It was written and directed by newcomer Ravikumar, and also starred Mia George, Karunakaran, TM Karthik and Jayaprakash in important roles. It enjoyed a good run in theatres.

The producer of the film, CV Kumar announced on Twitter recently that the sequel will be written by Ravikumar and directed by his associate SP Karthik, who has worked on Indru Netru Naalai and Mundasupatti.

Dinesh Krishnan of Soodhu Kavum fame will replace N Vasanth as cinematographer of the film. Music will be by Ghibran. The original had Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi for background score and songs. CV Kumar confirmed that Karunakaran will be part of the film, but it is not known yet if Vishnu Vishal, Mia and others are on board. Details about the story are also yet to be revealed. If the film proceeds as planned, a release can be expected next summer.

The 2005 film was co-produced by CV Kumar’s Thirukumaran Entertainment and KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green.

The film is a comedy entertainer about two people who find a time machine and try to turn their lives around. Under the guise of an astrologer, played by Karunakaran, they use the machine to travel back and forth in time and find people’s lost possessions and earn money. However, their meddling with time prevents the death of a gangster and they get embroiled in problems.

Vishnu Vishal, who made his debut with Suseenthiran’s Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, has since acted in films such as Kullanari Koottam and Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran. He was last seen in Silkkuvarapati Singham and Raatchasan, and is busy with Jagajala Killadi by director Ezhil, co-starring Nivetha Pethuraj, and an upcoming film with Vikranth.

Mia has four films in Malayalam lined up for release – Al Mallu, Pattabhiraman, Brother’s Day and Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Meanwhile, actor Karunakaran, last seen in Monster, has Dharmaprabhu releasing this week.
