Income Tax Officials Raid Offices of Baahubali Producers

The Income Tax department raided the residences and offices of Baahubali producers – Shobhu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni at Hyderabad. The producers have recently been involved in selling the distribution rights of Baahubali 2.

According to a report by NDTV, the raid was conducted because nearly Rs 60 crores worth of the discontinued Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were allegedly being hoarded by the film’s producers.

Responding to this move, Tollywood producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja told India Today that the Income Tax officials were victimising the producer and that not a single producer from the industry was involved in illegal practices. He also said that the producers maintained proper documentation.

The offices of Arka Media Works, production company of Baahubali, have also been raided. Baahubali stands second in the the all-time top grossing Indian films world-wide. The first look teaser of Baahubali 2 and a VR ‘on-sets’ video of the film was released in October. The much-awaited film slated to release on 28 April 2017.

With music by M M Keeravani, the film has an ensemble cast that includes Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj, Sudeep, Nassar, Ramya Krishnan in integral roles. The cinematography is helmed by K K Senthil Kumar, Art direction is by Sabu Cyril while V Srinivas Mohan is the Visual Effects Supervisor.
