KS Ravikumar has denied rumours that he is planning a sequel to his 2000 superhit Padaiyappa. On a phone conversation with Silverscreen, the director said that Padaiyappa is a classic and things need to align well for a sequel. He also expressed his desire to do another with Rajinikanth, and it could even be the sequel if the superstar agrees.

The Association Of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has set a date for an emergency meeting to discuss the issue of actor Dileep’s re-instatement. A letter sent to the representatives of Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) who had asked for the meeting. The meeting will take place on August 7 in Kochi. Actors Revathy, Padmapriya and Parvathy will have their say when they meet with the executive council members of AMMA.

A new video from the team of Balaji Tharaneetharan’s Seethakaathi features Vijay Sethupathi as a septuagenarian theatre artiste, one of the two characters he plays in the film. The video documents the 41-year-old actor’s journey to Los Angeles, to the studio of Oscar-winning make-up artiste Kevin Haney and Alex Noble, where he undergoes hours-long make-up process to turn into an old man with wrinkled skin and bulked up cheeks.
Rajinikanth’s next film with director Karthik Subbaraj for Sun Pictures is turning out to be a starry affair indeed! Apart from the superstar, the film boasts a few other A-listers, such as Vijay Sethupathi, Simran and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Karthik Subbaraj-produced web-series Kallachirippu teaser has love, adultery and murder. The story revolves around a woman who accidentally kills her husband after which there is complete chaos. The series will stream on ZEE5 from July 23.
After a whole lot of delay, filmmaker Karthick Naren’s sophomore creation Naragasooran is finally ready to see the light of day. The film has given a U/A certificate by the censor board with no cuts and has a run-time of 110 minutes. It stars Arvind Swami, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan, Aathmika and Indrajith in the lead.

Will Indian 2 see Kamal Haasan reprise his role of Senapathi, made memorable in the original, and last the length of the movie? Sources in the know of things say that among the changes in the much-anticipated sequel is that the lead role will go to a younger actor. It is rumoured that Kamal will stop with playing an important role, but one that does not call for much screen time.
