GV Prakash will play the lead role in Mani Ratnam’s new production venture. The yet-to-be-titled movie will be directed by Dhana Sekaran, an associate of the producer.
According to a source, “The film has its dialogues co-written by Mani Ratnam and will go on floors soon. The story was originally planned to be a Mani Ratnam directorial. However, he couldn’t take it up due to his commitments because of Ponniyin Selvan. The story of his production venture is a unique script that will cater to the audience across sections,” said a report.
The music for the movie will be composed by 96-fame Govind Vasantha.
Mani Ratnam is rumoured to be working on Ponniyin Selvan, his long-time dream. According to a report, Ponniyin Selvan will star Vikram, Vijay Sethupathi and Jayam Ravi in the lead. Simbu is said to play an important role, similar to the one in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. Amitabh Bachchan has also reportedly been approached to play the role of Sundara Chola in the film.
A source close to the film said, “Official word on the project will be out once Vijay Sethupathi finalises his dates. The actor confirmed his availability for the film immediately after Mani Ratnam told him about the idea of reviving the project.”
The film is likely to be produced by Lyca Productions. There is no official confirmation from anyone in the team yet.
Dhana Sekaran had made his debut with Padaiveeran which released last year. Starring Vijay Yesudas in the lead, the movie was set in the village of Theni and features the actor as a police constable. The film also starred Bharatiraja and Amrita Iyer.
