Madhura Raja, the spin-off to the Mammootty-Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja is gearing up for release. The makers of the movie recently released a first look poster featuring Mammootty.
The poster shows Mammootty standing atop a bunch of villains after having bashed them up.

Pokkiri Raja, written by Udayakrishna and Siby K Thomas and directed by Vyshakh released in 2010 and went on to become a huge success. In Madhura Raja, Mammootty reprises his role of Raja from the original. While the original movie featured Prithviraj as Mammootty’s brother and Shriya Saran as the former’s girlfriend, neither of them will be seen in the new movie. Also, Madhura Raja will not be carrying forward the story of Pokkiri Raja and will be a standalone film.
The shoot for the movie had commenced in August 2018 and the movie is touted to be the costliest in Mammotty’s career so far. Madhura Raja also marks the coming together of the trio of director Vyshakh, scriptwriter Udayakrishna and stunt master Peter Hein. The trio had previously worked on Mohanlal’s Pulimrugan which went on to become one of the highest grossing Malayalam films.

It has been reported that the Subramaniapuram actor Jay will be playing a pivotal role in the movie. Anushree, Mahima Nambiar and Shamna Kasim will be part of the cast.
Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is also part of the movie. In the past, the actress had made news with her statements on Mammootty. When asked who would she pick as her leading man between Mammootty and his son Dulquer Salmaan, the actress had said she wished to be paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan and would rather have Mammootty play her father.
This had irked the fans of the actor who trolled the actress left, right and centre. Following this, an emotional Anna was seen apologizing in a Facebook video.
Madhura Raja has been produced by Nelson Ipe. Music for the movie has been composed by Gopi Sundar.
