Katrina Kaif and Pakistani Bollywood actor Fawad Khan are reportedly teaming up for a Karan Johar film. According to a DNA report, the film will be produced under a collaboration between Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios.
The film, directed by lyricist Aditya Dhar of Kabul Express fame, is said to be a love story set in North India. “The plot revolves around the lead pair’s quirky, Punjabi families and will showcase the grandeur of the North Indian culture and revelry,” a source told DNA.
The movie’s shoot is likely to start in Delhi in November. The film is expected to be shot outside of India as well.
According to a DC report, Dhar had originally planned the film in 2011 with Chitrangda Singh and Prateik Babbar titled Sufi. But things didn’t work out with a 2011 Mid-Day report stating that the project was shelved due to Singh bearing an uncanny resemblance to Babbar’s late mother Smita Patil.
Meanwhile, Fawad Khan, who last featured in Dharma Productions’ Kapoor & Sons, is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming Karan Johar-directed film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma .
