Kumbalangi Nights starring Fahadh Faasil will release on February 7 next year. The movie is written by Shyam Pushkaran who won the National Award for best original screenplay for Maheshinte Prathikaram.
Kumbalangi Nights is produced by Nazriya Nazim, Dileesh Pothan and Shyam Pushkaran under the banner of Working Class Heroes. It marks the directorial debut of Madhu C Narayanan, an associate of Dileesh Pothan.
Dileesh Pothan and Shyam Pushkaran are the team behind award-winning movies like Thondimothalum Driksaakshiyum and Maheshinte Prathikaram. Pothan directed both the movies. Pushkaran wrote Driksaakshiyum and was the creative director of Maheshinte Prathikaram. Fahadh Faasil won the National Award for the best supporting actor in the movie.
Fahadh’s success in this September’s film Varathan, directed by Amal Neerad, is still being talked about. He also won rave reviews for his role in Carbon. Released earlier this year, the movie was directed by cinematographer turned director Venu.
Fahadh Faasil currently awaits the release of Njan Prakashan, a social satire. Scripted by actor-scriptwriter Sreenivasan, the movie reunites him with his long-time collaborator Sathyan Anthikkad. Njan Prakashan releases today.
Touted as a family drama, Kumbalangi Nights went on floors in September and finished shoot in November. The movie also features Shane Nigaam, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi and Mathew Thomas. “The story is set in the contemporary era and there are four brothers in the story,” Narayanan said.
Shyam Pushkaran, said about the story, “It is the first time I have tried to write a script based on a modern family drama. I am quite thrilled about it.”
