Following their successful collaboration in the film Maheshinte Prathikaram, Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil and director Dileesh Pothen will work together in the film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (Evidence and Eyewitness). The director made the announcement on his Facebook page.
As the title hints, the film is centred around a crime and a ‘common man’ who gets involved in it. In an interview with IBtimes, Pothen said, “This film has the thondimuthal (evidence) and driksakshi (eye witness) as its hero and heroine, respectively.”
“I am not sure which genre this movie falls in, of course it has the elements of a family drama. When I heard the story of ‘Maheshinte Prathikaram’, I felt it interesting and made it into a film. Similarly, when I heard this story, I thought it should be made into a film. It is a small movie of a middle-class family made on a small canvas,” he added.
The cast includes Soubin Shahir and Alencier Ley, who also acted in Maheshinte Prathikaram. Soubin, who debuted in Fahadh Faasil’s 2013 film Annayum Resoolum, and went on to act in supporting roles got his major breakthrough in his impressive performance in last year’s Premam. After a string of flops, Maheshinte Prathikaaram was Fahadh Faasil’s hit film this year. He will soon be making his Tamil debut in the film directed by Mohan Raja co-starring Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara.
Dileesh commented that the team is on the look-out for new faces for the cast, including the female lead. The film is being scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor and National Award winner Rajeev Ravi is the cinematographer for the film, whiel Bijibal will compose the music. Produced by Sandeep Senan and Aneesh M Thomas under the banner of Urvashi Theatres, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum will be released next year.
