Dhanush’s directorial debut was the Rajkiran, Prasanna, Madonna Sebastian, Revathy-starrer Pa Paandi, which released in 2017. Scripted and produced by Dhanush, it was a slice-of-life film on the life of a former stunt master who embarks on a journey to track his first love. The film was a rare instance where senior love was dealt with sensitively.
Dhanush currently awaits the release of Vada Chennai – director Vetri Maran’s trilogy that also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani and Andrea Jeremiah. The film is produced by Dhanush, who plays a carrom player in it. Santosh Narayanan has composed the music for the film, which is scheduled to release on October 17.
Also in his kitty is the sequel to Balaji Mohan’s 2015 movie Maari. While the original featured Kajal Aggarwal as the female lead, the sequel has three female leads – Sai Pallavi, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Vidya Pradeep.
Yuvan Shankar Raja replaces Anirudh Ravichander, who scored music for the original. Likewise, Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas replaces Vijay Yesudas as the antagonist. Dhanush’s Wunderbar Productions bankrolls the project.
After teasing the audience for over a year with its songs and teaser, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Ennai Nokki Paayum Thota finally gears up for a release in November. Megha Akash plays Dhanush’s love interest in the movie. The movie has been in news ever since the first single – ‘Maruvaarthai Pesathe’ went viral in 2016.
The song sent listeners into a frenzy to discover the identity of its music director credited as ‘X’. While speculations were rife that it could be AR Rahman, Harris Jeyaraj or Sean Roldan, it turned out to be Darbuka Siva.
