Debutant filmmaker Ashwin Saravanan is directing Nayanthara’s next movie, which is touted to be a supernatural thriller. The 24-year-old director revealed that he didn’t expect a huge star like Nayanthara to don the lead role in his film. “It’s a low-budget film and I couldn’t approach popular actors. Thankfully, the production house chose Nayanthara, as they felt she could carry off the character quite well,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin is one among the youngest filmmakers in the industry. And this fact gets him all the more spirited. “Although I’m young, I enjoy creative integrity and complete freedom. I am making the film that I dreamed of,” he declared. An engineering graduate, Ashwin explained that he began writing the script of his film when he was “thrown out of Infosys”. “And it took a year for me to complete the script. To make the production house believe in my script, I shot a couple of scenes from the film with the help of my friends, who helped me when I made short films. Thankfully, the producers loved those scenes,” he recalled. Ashwin also added that actress Nayanthara puts him at ease. “She trusts the director and that simplifies our work.”
Nayanthara will be seen donning the role of a mother. The flick is produced by Potential Studios.
