Dileep Appears Before Court As Trial Begins In The Malayalam Actress Abduction Case, Next Hearing On March 28

Malayalam actor Dileep and eight others accused in the sexual assault and abduction of an actress, appeared before the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court as the trial began on Wednesday.

The actor was arrested in July last year and was release after spending 85 days in jail. The hearing that started yesterday saw Dileep and the prime accused, Pulsar Suni, appearing together for the first time in court. Suni’s attorney has moved a bail for his release from the central prison in Thrissur. The court will consider the plea on March 16.

Earlier, the actor had asked permission to get access to the documents relating to the case and the court has granted his plea. The principal sessions court has stated that the medical examination report of the actress following the attack can also be made available to Dileep. The next hearing on the case has now been moved to March 28.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the actress has demanded for a special court with a woman judge conducting the trial.

The actress was attacked on February 17 last year and was allegedly abducted and harassed by Pulsar Suni. Later Dileep was arrested for plotting the attack on the actress.

Dileep is expected to put an application to extend the date of the hearing due to the ongoing production of his movies. He had approached the high court in the past to delay the trial proceedings in the absence of any legitimate documents. But the court rejected this demand.
