Didugul Leoni’s Son Leo Sivakumar To Debut In ‘Maamanithan’


It has been known that Vijay Sethupathi is working with director Seenu Ramasamy on the upcoming film Maamanithan. As per latest updates, Leo Sivakumar will be making his debut in Tamil cinema with this film. He is the son of the famous orator and debator Dindugul I Leoni.

The director took to twitter to announce the news today. He said, “Brother Leo Sivakumar will enter Tamil cinema with Maamanithan. He is a great actor and artiste. He is the son of the famous speaker Leoni. He was selected after going through proper auditions.”

Directed by Seenu Ramasamy, Maamanithan stars Vijay Sethupathi and Guru Somasundaram in the lead. The film talks about social and religious harmony – “perhaps two of the most important concepts for the people,” the director had said. The team is currently shooting in Aandipatti near Madurai. Following this, they plan to go to Kerala, Kashi and Rameswaram for shoot.

The film is produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is also the film’s composer along with his father Ilaiyaraaja. Actors Gayathrie and Shaji Chen star in prominent roles. The team began shoot on December 14, a significant date for producer Yuvan Shankar Raja and Irfan Malik. In a recent statement, Malik had said that their first production, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, also went on the floors on the same date.

It is said that the film will trace the life and career of a Tamil Nadu based politician. We don’t know who this is yet. A spokesperson for Sethupathi confirmed the news and said, “Yes, the film is a biopic on a famous leader. At present, we cannot confirm who it is based on. The necessary permissions are being obtained.”

Maamanithan marks fourth collaboration of Vijay Sethupathi and Seenu Ramasamy. Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru directed by Seenu was Vijay Sethupathi’s debut as a lead actor. They have worked together on Dharma Durai and Idam Porul Yaeval, both of which went on floors in 2014, but are yet to be released. It is also said that they will work on another film after the release of Maamanithan.
