Director Vetrimaaran’s Asuran, starring Dhanush, Manju Warrier and others will have a worldwide release on October 4 2019, days before the Dussehra weekend.
Dhanush took to Twitter to announce the news yesterday.

The film is in the final leg of shooting and will wrap up soon. The last schedule began on April 29, and is being filmed in and around Kovilpatti in Tirunelveli.
Last month, Dhanush recorded one of the songs titled ‘Polladha Bhoomi’ and tweeted about it.

The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar, who has also collaborated with lyricist Egadesi of ‘Oththa Solladha’ fame, Yugabharathi and others for the songs. The composer is reuniting with Dhansuh and Vetrimaaran eight years after their last film Aadukalam.
As reported earlier, Dhanush plays a dual role as father and son in Asuran, which is based on Poomani’s novel Vekkai which is about a man avenging his father’s death. Malayalam actress Manju Warrier makes her Tamil debut with this movie. Director Balaji Sakthivel, Ken Karunas, Subramania Siva, Pasupathi and Aadukalam Naren have important roles.
Cinematography is by Velraj, and production by S Thanu under his banner V Creations. Announcements about an audio launch can be expected soon.
Dhanush and Vetrimaaran will soon also resume work on Vada Chennai 2. They recently cleared the air around reports that the project was shelved because of some opposition from the residents of North Chennai where the film is set. Vetrimaaran also announced a prequel to Vada Chennai titled Rajan Vagaira, a story centered on Ameer’s character Rajan. This is likely to release as a web series on a digital platform.
Besides Asuran and Vada Chennai 2, Dhanush has Pattas with Durai Senthilkumar, the first-look poster of which released recently. He also has a film each with Karthik Subbaraj, Mari Selvaraj, Ramkumar, and Selvaraghavan, and his own directorial co-starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Srikanth in the pipeline.
