If reports are to be believed, the film is a continuation of Kamal Haasan’s 1988 Sathya, and it stars Kamal’s brother Charu Haasan as his older self. Keerthy Suresh’s grandmother will play Amala’s lead role from the original. Comedian Janagaraj who was part of Sathya will also be seen in an important role. He is well known for his roles in Annamalai and Baasha.

Three young stars who are making their Tamil debut with Dha Dha 87 will also be seen in the lead. Jeni Pallavi, Anu Lavanya, Anand Pandi, reportedly have important roles. The director says about Jeni’s role, “It’s something that no heroine has played so far. In fact, many actresses we had approached refused to act in this role. But this is going to be most talked-about once the film releases.”

“Anand Pandi, who has been part of TV shows like Kalakka Povathu Yaaru and Jodi No 1, will be seen playing a lover boy. Anu is a rowdy girl in north Chennai,” he says.
