Dhawan acknowledged the success he has shared with Govinda in the past, but said that the actor has been ‘different’ these days.

“I have always made films for entertainment and I have worked with various actors. Yes, Govinda and I have created history in cinema… Govinda has been different, that’s it. Now I am making a film with my son.”

Dhawan and Govinda had a fall-out in 2014, when the director chose to cast Rishi Kapoor in his Chashme Baddoor remake. Govinda alleged that he was the one to give Dhawan the idea to remake the iconic Hindi film, and that he’d expected to be cast in it.

Later, he told ToI that he did not want to collaborate with Dhawan.

“No, I don’t want to work with David Dhawan as he didn’t stand by me during my bad patch. I feel when a person thinks that you are not capable of doing his film or working with him, then one should not ask for work, or work with that person if he thinks that you are a liability on him. I think the love between us, that has been there over the years, should remain the same. We should live a healthy life. Currently, he is a proud father and let him be happy. I have nothing to do with his films, nor do I want to discuss films with him.”

David Dhawan’s next as director is a sequel to the Salman Khan-starrer Judwaa. In the latest film, Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu play the lead roles. The film is slated to release later this year.
