Gupta is a professor of history in Rajasthan Vishwavidhyala and is an expert on Indian medieval history, Khangarot is the principal of Agrawal College. A six-member panel, including the two porfessors, have been formed by the CBFC to ascertain whether historical facts has been tampered with in the film.

The Karni Senas of Rajasthan had launched a violent protest against the film ever since it’s trailer was released.

On the issue, earlier the Bombay High Court had said that the country has come to a situation where people cannot voice their opinions.

“In which other country do you see threats given to artists and performers? It is distressing to know that a person makes a feature film and several people work tirelessly towards it, but is not able to release the film because of continued threats. What have we come to?” said Justice Dharmadhikari.

The film, made on a budget of Rs 190 crores, stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji.

Of course, the twitterati had something to say on the issue.
