Case Registered Against John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate

A police case has been registered against John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, a vigilante action thriller directed by Milap Zaveri, for allegedly hurting religious.

According to The Indian Express, a case has been registered against the film by BJP Minority Morcha general secretary Syed Ali Jaffry with the Dabeerpura police on Sunday. In the complaint, it is said that the film is allegedly offending the religious sentiments of the group under section 295 (A) of Indian Penal Code.

The film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Amruta Khanvilkar, Aisha Sharma and Tota Roy Chowdhury in pivotal roles. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani, the film will release on August 15 along with Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold.

Recently, a case was filed against Netflix series Sacred Gameswhich stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead. The complainant had stated that Siddiqui’s character in the series – gangster Ganesh Gaitonde, uses abusive language when referring to late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Fringe groups taking umbrage over a film or a web-series has become a routine.

Gangster Abu Salem recently sent a legal notice to the makers of Sanju stating that he has been erroneously depicted in the film which has caused him ‘pain and disrepute’. Salem’s lawyer has issued a legal notice to Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and the distribution and production companies involved, demanding the removal of scenes which portrayed him in a poor light. Salem also threatened to file a defamation case against the makers, if the scenes were not deleted within a period of 15 days.
