Box Office Roundup: Slow Start For Shoojit Sircar’s October; Nani’s Krishnarjuna Yuddham Fares Well In The US

October, starring Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu, released on April 13, has been garnering a lot of mixed reviews. While the film critics felt it was Shoojit Sircar’s most ambitious project, on social media however, the audience were mostly unsure of this poignant drama.

The film’s performance at the box office in India began slow, slower than most of Varun Dhawan’s movie. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film earned a little over Rs 5 crores on its opening day. Word of mouth and positive reviews, however, came to their rescue over the weekend.

The film then picked up pace and grew nearly 50 percent by Saturday.

The theatre strike continues in Kollywood, with no new Tamil releases hitting the screens. With Karthik Subbaraj’s no-language ‘silent thriller’ Mercury having released on April 13, the film, unfortunately, could not be released in Tamil Nadu but had a decent turnout in Karnataka.
