Box Office Roundup: Decent Opening For ‘Raju Gari Gadhi 2’; ‘Judwaa 2’ Crosses Rs 200-Crore Mark

The past week witnessed two major releases, which turned out to be average films. Horror-comedy Raju Gari Gadhi 2, a sequel to the 2015 film, was out. The film’s release was timely considering the female lead of the film – Samantha Ruth Prabhu – got married and the film had her act alongside her father-in-law Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Malayalam release Kaattu, with lesser promotions and ads, is a better film, according to critics.

While there were no Tamil releases, there were two Hollywood films that people were equally looking forward to — Victoria and Abdul, and The Foreigner.

Here’s a look at the films’ performance at the box-office:

Raju Gari Gadhi 2

Directed by Ohmkar, the film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Samantha Akkineni, Seerat Kapoor in the lead roles with a special appearance from Kajal Aggarwal. The film is a sequel to the Telugu film that released in 2015.

On the day of its release, the film made Rs 8.60 crore. Trade reports suggest that the film fared well on Saturday, too, earning approximately Rs 6.50 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh states that the film earned $80,916 [Rs 52.36 lakhs] from 87 locations in the US.
