“Boomerang will be the second movie in recent times to deal with the subject of agriculture after Kadaikutty Singam,” said director R Kannan at the audio launch of his movie. In the trailer, Atharvaa can be seen leading a crowd to till land, saying: “We have to get down to the fields and work instead of voting and waiting for the politicians to bring about change.”
The film will also talk about NEET, social media-led agitations, and how politicians stall decision-making in a democracy. The actor will be seen playing an ambitious youngster who fights for a social cause.
According to a report, Atharvaa will be seen in three looks in the film. The actor will be completely bald in one of the three looks, while for another, an elaborate prosthetic procedure was done on him. Talking about it, director Kannan told TOI: “Atharvaa had to wait for a couple of months for his hair to grow back so he could resume shoot on his other projects.
The music for the movie is composed by Radhan of Arjun Reddy fame. “He’s worked in a blockbuster Telugu movie, and I was surprised when I found out he’s from Chennai,” said Atharvaa at the audio launch.
Kannan began his career by assisting Mani Ratnam in movies such as Kannathil Muthamittaal and Aayutha Ezhuthu before making his debut with Jayamkondaan. Suhasini Mani Ratnam also plays a role in Boomerang.
