Speaking to The Times of India, Aditya Bharadwaj, who is one of the producers, said that an announcement will be made soon on who will be essaying the late AIADMK supremo.

“All I can say is most of the information on Jayalalithaa is available to us freely, as she was a public figure. Ours is a fictionalised story, but we will be using real footages interspersed with recreated scenes. We have been in touch with one of her very close associates, whose name I cannot reveal right now, for all personal details. We are working on the cast, and so far, we have had no problems, either political, or otherwise,” he said. The film’s story has been in development for a while now.

The film will mostly be shot in the studios in Mumbai, while the rest will be done in Chennai.

Ever since her death on December 6, 2016, several filmmakers have spoken of making a biopic on her. One of them was even announced early this year, only to have it shelved a month later. Reportedly, national award-winning Telugu filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao, who died this year, was said to have registered for the title Amma.
