Bigg Boss Season 3 Launched Yesterday; Here Are The Contestants

Bigg Boss Season 3 was launched on Vijay TV yesterday, with actor-politician Kamal Haasan returning as the host of the reality show.

16 contestants will live together in the house for 100 days. 15 members – actors, singers, news readers and one non-celebrity have been announced already and the last contestant, likely to be a wild card entry, will be introduced at a later point in the show. There are also two Sri Lankan and one Malaysian Tamil contestants on the show.

The episode aired on Hotstar at 8pm yesterday, and saw Kamal Haasan making a grand entry into the Bigg Boss house. He gave a tour of the house and pointed out the changes in design. The house has an Ayyanar inspired painting at the entrance, and portraits of Rajinikanth from Petta and Kamal Haasan from Virumaandi and other actors in the walls. There is also no separation between men and women’s bedrooms this season, but the ‘confession room’, ‘jail’ and swimming pool, monitored by many cameras across the house remain.

The first contestant to enter the house was Fathima Babu, a former news reader for Doordarshan and an actress with a two decade long career in Tamil and Malayalam films.

News reader Losilya who is a celebrity in Sri Lanka was contestant no. 2. She introduced herself to the Tamil audience and Kamal Haasan gave her a medal with her name on it saying she could keep it if she won the show.

Actress Sakshi Aggarwal entered with a dance performance. She is one of the most popular contestants this season, and was recently seen in Kaala. She said she was there to have fun on the show.

Comedy actress Madhumita of Lollu Sabha is part of the show. She has acted in films like OkOk and Kan Pesum Vaarthai, and said she wished to act opposite Kamal in a sequel to Sathi Leelavathi.

Chandini Tamilarasan, a popular Tamil and Telugu actress is part of the house. She made her debut in Siddhu +2 (2010) and was also seen in Naan Rajavaga Pogiren (2013).

TV and film actor Kavin, the star of Saravanan Meenatchi and the recent Natpuna Enna Theriyuma, is part of the show. It was his birthday yesterday and wishes poured in from all.

Abhirami Venkatachalam, who is awaiting the release of Nerkonda Paarvai, was the next contestant. She made her acting debut in Kalavu (2019), and is also known for her role in the web-series Ctrl Alt Delete.

Paruthiveeran Saravanan, a leading actor from the 90s entered the show. Ganja Karuppu, former contestant who was present yesterday as a guest welcomed him. Saravanan was recently seen in 2018’s Nayanthatra-starrer Kolamavu Kokila as inspector Guru.

Actress Vanitha, daughter of Vijaykumar is part of the house. After a brief stint in cinema she took a break and is back again with Bigg Boss. She said she was here due to the support of her daughters.

Kamal Haasan welcomed National Award winning actor-director Cheran to the show. He shot to fame with Autograph in 2014. He said he was in the house for the experience. He is the only film director on the show.

‘Power Star’ Srinivasan, who frequently makes the headlines for many reasons, entered the show. He is known for his comic roles in films, and became popular with Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya in 2013.

Model and Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film actor Sherin Shringar is part of the house. She made an entry with a dance performance, and also said she was there for the experience.

Mohan Vaidhya is the non-celebrity on the show. He is a singer, violinist and actor, and brother of veena exponent Rajesh Vaidhya. “Bigg Boss is a library and I’ll get to read 15 different contestants,” he reportedly said.

Model-turned-actor Tharshan Thyagarajan is the second Sri Lankan contestant in the house. Former contestant Harish Kalyan welcomed him to the show.

Choreographer Sandy is a Vijay TV regular as the judge of dance shows, and also shot to fame as one of the choreographers of Kaala. He entered with a dance performance.

Malaysian actor and singer Mugen Rao entered with the performance of a song composed by him. He has a huge following on social media for his songs and music videos.

Reshma Pasupuleti is the last contestant to enter the house. She is an air hostess-turned-TV anchor and also interviewed Kamal Haasan for Vishwaroopam in 2012.

Actor Aarav won in the first season of the show, and Riythvika was the winner of the second season. The tagline this time reads, “This is not just a show, this is our life.”

It will be telecast everyday on Vijay TV from 9.30 pm.
