Actor-politician Kamal Haasan will begin shooting for Bigg Boss 3 after the Lok Sabha elections. The promo for the the third season released yesterday, confirming the return of Kamal as host. The show is scheduled to air from June.

Vijay TV is currently finalising contestants and the official list is expected to be out soon.

According to reports, celebrities such as Sakshi Agarwal, MS Bhaskar and Alya Manasa are already on board. Sudha Chandran, MS Bhaskar, Chandini Tamilarasan and Laila Mehden were among the first to be approached, but both Chandini and Laila did not sign up. According to IBTspeculations about Premji, Priya Anand, T Rajendar and Radha Ravi’s participation are not true. VJ Siddhu was offered the opportunity and is reportedly considering participating. Kasthuri Shankar denied rumours about her participation to Silverscreen, saying such speculations were rife the past two seasons too.

The popular reality show has contestants living together in an isolated house for 100 days. Like in the first two seasons, 15 celebrities and one non-celebrity will take part this time too. Oviyaa, Aarav, Riythvika, Harish Kalyan, Ganesh Venkatraman and Yaashika Anand were among the previous participants.

The show marked Kamal Haasan’s television debut in 2017. Vijay TV approached him because they thought his knowledge about a range of topics made him a favourable host. He had appeared as a guest on several shows and interviews before Bigg Boss, but was known for staying away from endorsing brands, major shows or political parties. The episodes and his speeches in the first two seasons of Bigg Boss paved the way for his political entry months later.

While Kamal chose to not contest elections this year, his party Makkal Needhi Maiam contested the general elections from all seats in Tamil Nadu. The results will be announced on May 23. The actor’s post-election plans in June include resuming shoot for director Shankar’s Indian 2, the big- budget sequel to his 1996 film, shoot for which began in January 2019 but later faced delays.
