The film has been written by Bhoopathy Raja and Nirmal Kumar, and produced by PK Ram Mohan for Kalpataru Pictures. The producer said in a press statement, “The film will portray Sasikumar in a role that audiences have always loved. Nirmal Kumar’s storytelling skills are phenomenal. He has already proved his potential through Salim. I felt the same uniqueness when he narrated the story of this film.”

Nirmal Kumar, who made his debut as director in 2014 with the Vijay Antony-starrer Salim, later made Sathuranga Vettai 2, which awaits release. Sasikumar, last seen in Petta as Rajinikanth’s best friend Malik, has Sumuthirakani’s Naadodigal 2. The film co-stars Anjali, and is awaiting release.

Sasikumar is currently gearing up for the release of Kennedy Club, which also stars Bharathiraja in the lead. The film is about a women’s Kabbadi team. The director recently hosted a Kabbadi match at a ground in Villupuram, and the general public was invited to act as spectators. A release date for the film is awaited.

Sasikumar’s other projects include director SR Prabhakaran’s Kombu Vatcha Singamda, and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s long-delayed Dhanush-starrer Enai Noki Paayum Thotta.
