This Monday, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali officially surpassed Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 at the box-office. Baahubali grossed Rs.550 crore, overtaking Dhoom 3, which has a lifetime earning of Rs.542 crore. Baahubali is now the third highest grossing Indian film behind only Rajkumar Hirani’s PK (Rs.702 crore) and Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs.565 crore). Now in its 5th week, Baahubali released a week after Salman Khan’s film, and has been giving the latter tough competition in the race for the highest grossing film. Meanwhile, Rajamouli has been busy with the pre-production work for Baahubali 2. 40 percent of the shoot has already been completed. The team will resume shooting in September.
