Baahubali 2 the sequel of the epic film Baahubali, will release on 28 April, 2017. Bollywood director Karan Johar announced the date on his Twitter account.

Baahubali is the most expensive Indian movie made till date. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film has a plethora of actors in its cast, including Prabhas, Anuskha Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Sathyaraja, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sudeep, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Shriya Saran, and Rohini. The film has music by MM Keeravani.

Baahubali 2 has teamed up with Bollywood director Karan Johar for its Hindi release, under the Dharma Productions banner.
Baahubali 1 opened to tremendous success across south India. Released on July 10, 2015, it went on to become one of the highest grossing films of the year. It was also the fastest to reach the 100 crore club, within just two days of its release. It was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.

Recently, the movie went oversees, with a record release in China. With over 6000 prints across the country, it was a first for a Telugu film. Earlier this year, the movie was also released in France, following it’s French dubbing. However, the movie received only a lukewarm response overseas.

Baahubali 1 also dominated the awards season with a number of awards on various counts. It won a National award for the the best movie, 13 cineMAA awards, and 5 Filmfare awards. It also had a successful run across several international film festivals.

Sri Thenandal films, which had released the first part of the film, has acquired the distribution rights for the sequel as well.
