The film has been in production since August 2018, and was initially scheduled to release in Janaury this year, but it faced a delay due to unknown reasons. The report says that the delay was because of issues such as Vishal turning up late for the shoot of his scenes with actor Radha Ravi.

The film is a remake of the Telugu hit  Temper and was made on an estimated budget of Rs 30 crore. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, producer B Madhu of Light House Movie Makers earned Rs 37 crores due to pre-release deals, satellite rights and foreign distribution rights. But he faced pressures from financiers who demanded compensation for the losses because of the postponement. There was also an issue between a Telugu producer and Madhu regarding selling the Hindi dubbing rights. Further, Madhu owed the financiers of an earlier film Rs 3 crore because of which the film was stopped a day before release, which led to an estimated loss of Rs 10 crore, according to TOI.

The spokesperson for the film told Silverscreen that the producer approached the South Indian Film Chamber with the complaint, “He faced losses worth Rs 2.5 crore because of the one-day delay. But this was settled by Vishal and distributor Screen Scene Entertainment, who gave Rs 1 crore each.”

The film, however, topped the Chennai box office during the May 11-12 weekend despite releasing alongside other big films such as Maharshi, Kee and 100.

Directed by Venkat Mohan, Ayogya stars Vishal Krishna and Raashi Khanna in the lead, while R Parthiban, KS Ravikumar, Vamsi and Pooja played important roles. Composer Sam CS, cinematographer R Karthik and editor Ruben worked on the film.
