Australian Cops Tweet Rajinikanth Meme, Goes Viral Among Fans

In India, and particularly in Tamil Nadu, we know people use memes to explain what they think. But it is something to take notice of when Australia makes a meme out of a Rajinikanth film, and it goes viral among Thalaivar fans.

On February 10, the Derby Police in Australia tweeted about a case of drunken driving. They said that a man who was subject to a breath analyser test was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.341%. While this didn’t seem like a big deal to a lay audience, the interesting aspect came later. The tweet explained that the man’s alcohol levels were akin to someone who was under the influence of a surgical anaesthetic or a coma! This reading, Derby Police said, “biologically shouldn’t even be possible.” So, they used an image from the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 to express their shock. The meme has Rajinikanth looking puzzled, in a scene when he is told about the enormous amount of mobile phone theft.

The tweet went viral after fans of the actor found their way to it, and were over the moon about his popularity with Australian police officials.  They expressed their joy saying, “Thailavar is everywhere!”

It is said that as soon as the Derby Police tweeted the meme, there were about 600 retweets and over 1100 likes. Here are few reactions to the viral tweet.

2.0, a sequel to popular 2010 film Enthiran, starred Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles. The film was directed by Shankar, and it released in November 2018. 2.0 was the most expensive Indian film ever made. It earned the highest gross collection in just three days.
