Director Vetrimaaran’s Asuran is likely to wrap up by this month end. The latest news is that the teaser may release on July 28, on Dhanush’s birthday. Shoot for the actor’s film with director Durai Senthilkumar will resume next month.
A source close to the film told Silverscreen that “Asuran shoot is on full swing and the film is in the completion stages. A decision on the teaser and trailer release is yet to be finalised.”
The final schedule for the film, co-starring Manju Warrier in the lead, began on April 29. The shooting is taking place in and around Kovilpatti in Tirunelveli district. Dhanush also shared a poster on Twitter announcing the news.

As reported earlier, Dhanush plays the dual role of father and son in Asuran. The film is based on Tamil writer Poomani’s novel Vekkai, a story about a man avenging his father’s death. Manju Warrier, the Malayalam actress, is making her Tamil debut with the film. Director Balaji Sakthivel is also part of the cast, along with Ken Karunas, Subramania Siva, Pasupathi and Aadukalam Naren.
The film’s composer GV Prakash has been regularly tweeting updates about the Asuran album. He recently also asked Twitterati to suggest folk singers and fresh combinations.

Four songs from the album, including two dance numbers, are complete. GV Prakash said he was working on a new slang for the songs. He has collaborated with lyricist Egadesi of ‘Oththa Soladha’ fame for film. He told Silverscreen he will speak more about the album closer to the audio launch.
The film has cinematography by Velraj and editing by Vivek Harshan; it is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu of V Creations. This is Dhanush and Vetrimaaran’s fourth movie together after Pollathavan, Aadukalam and Vada Chennai. Shoot for Vada Chennai 2 may also begin soon.
Meanwhile, the makers of Durai Senthilkumar’s next starring Dhanush and Sneha are expecting to resume shoot after Asuran wraps up. Dhanush will be seen in a double role as father and son in this film too. The team is half-way through shoot, and two schedules are remaining.
Dhanush is also awaiting the release of Pakkiri, the Tamil version of The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir.
