According to a report, Indian 2 is pitched to be about corruption and other anti social activities. Kamal Haasan plays the role of someone who fights and stands against this with the help of youngsters. Arya is said to be one such youngster whose character is important to the film. However, there is no confirmation about this from the filmmakers or the actor.

In mid January, it was reported that actor Siddharth will play an important role, and that he had replaced Simbu in the film. While there hasn’t been any confirmation about this either, a source close to the film said, “The role is still kept under wraps by the team. So, we don’t know if it is that of a cop or Senapathy’s grandson. Though Simbu was one of the choices, he was not officially on board for the film. It was Siddharth who officially signed it a few days ago.”

Kajal Aggarwal is the female lead in the movie, which marks her first collaboration with the director and actor. She is reportedly learning Kalaripayattu to prepare for her part.

There are also speculations that either Abishek Bachchan or Akshay Kumar will play the antagonist. Earlier, it was also reported that Ajay Devgn will play the negative role, but the actor opted out due to unknown reasons. This lead to reports that Akshay Kumar will be the replacement, but sources now say that talks are on between the team and Abhishek Bachchan for the role.

Music for Indian 2 is by Anirudh Ravichander who composed for Rajinikanth’s Petta. He replaces Shankar’s regular and long-time collaborator AR Rahman for the project. The film is produced by Lyca Productions, who earlier bankrolled the director’s 2.0 – a sequel of Enthiran which also starred Rajinikanth in the lead.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan has said that Indian 2 will be his last film before he takes the plunge into full-time politics. He said at a public function, “I’ll quit acting after the upcoming project Indian 2.” Kamal’s party Makkal Needhi Maiam will field a candidate for the Tiruvarur bye-polls, and contest in the Lok Sabha elections this year.
