Talking to Silverscreen about Boxer, Arun Vijay said he had been waiting to read the script for a long time. “It is a sports-based film – both emotional and inspirational at the same time. The script demands physical and mental preparation, which I will begin shortly,” he said.
Other cast members for the movie are yet to be finalised. Leon James, of Kavalai Vendaam fame, will compose music for the film, and Markus will be the director of photography. Madan has been roped in for editing, and Balachandar is the art director. Arun Vijay also said that the film is in its pre-production stage, and shooting is expected to begin by March end.
Fresh off from the success of his Mani Ratnam film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Arun Vijay awaits the release of director Magizh Thirumeni’s Thadam. He has played the role of Prakash Raj’s son, along with Arvind Swamy and Simbu, and is paired opposite Aishwarya Rajesh. Vijay Sethupati stars as a police officer in this movie about sibling rivalry in a business family.
Known for his role in the 2015 action thriller Yennai Arindhaal, directed by Gautham Menon, Arun Vijay presently has a series of movies waiting to see the light of day. Rathina Shiva’s Vaa Deal, featuring Arun Vijay and Karthika Nair in the lead roles, has been in production since 2012. In May this year he also joined the sets of Saaho, starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor. It is a bilingual film said to be made on a budget of Rs. 150 crore, and shot in locations across Abu Dhabi and Europe.
