Andrea Jeremiah Says ‘Taramani’ Was Emotionally Draining

Actress Andrea Jeremiah, who played Althea in Taramani, said playing the part was emotionally draining, and required a raw performance from her, reports IANS

“Going by the response from the audience, I believe my character is bolder than I thought. Although I was given the space and (allowed to) bring my own energy to the role, it was emotionally draining as the role required very raw performance from me,” Andrea said.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Ram, Taramani is the story of an independent woman, a single mother, set against the backdrop of Chennai’s IT hub, Taramani.

Speaking about her experience working with Ram, Andrea said, “I enjoy working with people who respect me as an artiste and respect my time, and Ram sir did both. More than anything, I love his realistic approach to filmmaking. He is a director who engages his actors in discussions rather than giving instructions, so there is a lot of give and take on set.”

In an interview with Silverscreen, Ram had said Taramani was about how “gender roles and man-woman relationships underwent drastic changes in the post-globalisation era”.

Taramani also starred Vasanth Ravi.
