Anandhi At The Pariyerum Perumal Press Meet

Anandhi issued a press statement in which she says the story of Raavana Kottam made her sign up. “I’m really surprised with the way Vikram Sugumaran has crafted the script with so much patience and persistence. After making a critically acclaimed film like Madha Yaanai Koottam, any director would have immediately started working on another project so they don’t miss the spotlight. But he didn’t do that and I am sure his hard work will pay off well with Raavana Kottam.”

Anandhi said that choosing her roles carefully will help establish her in the industry. “I wouldn’t say this in a dogmatic way. I am blessed to have come across films that have projected me in substantial roles and made my presence sustained here. Especially, after doing movies like Pariyerum Perumal, the positive reception urged me to carefully choose films, and Raavana Kottam is one such movie.”

Since her first film Bus Stop in 2012, she has acted in over 15 films. She is best known for Vetrimaaran’s production Poriyaalan and Prabhu Solomon’s Kayal. In last year’s Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Pa Ranjith, Anandhi starred with Kathir. Incidentally, Kathir made his debut with director Vikram Sugumaran’s Madha Yaanai Koottam in 2013.

Raavana Kottam was announced this April by actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj.

The makers released a statement saying it was a ‘nativity inclined’ film, and Shanthnu plays a man from Ramanathapuram district. Anandhi said, “Shanthnu Bhagyaraj’s changeover is going to be a special surprise to everyone just as I was astonished when I saw him first on the sets. He is a great performer and dancer as well.”

Anandhi and Shanthnu began shoot with a ‘fight song’ for the film. “It’s a conceptual song with a lot of entertainment,” she said. Director Vikram is a former assistant of Balu Mahendra and wrote the script for Aadukalam. After the success of Madha Yaanai Koottam, the director took his time to announce his next film. He said, “I was conscious of retaining the name I gained. I traveled down south and did lots of research.” Raavana Kottam is produced by Kannan Ravi. Justin Prabhakaran is composing music, and actors Prabhu, Ilavarasu, Sujatha Sivakumar, Aruldoss, PL Thenappan, Murugan (Malayalam actor who starred in Lucifer) and Deepa Shankar star in important roles.
