Ammu Abhirami To Reprise Her Original Role From Ratsasan In The Telugu Remake

Ammu Abhirami, who played Vishnu Vishal’s sister in last year’s psychological thriller Ratsasan, will reprise her role in the Telugu remake of the film. Marking the actress’ Telugu debut, the movie will be directed by Ramesh Varma and will feature Bellamkonda Sreenivas and Anupama Parameswaran as the lead characters.

Ammu Abhirami, who made her acting debut with the Karthi starrer Theeran: Adhigaram Ondru, took to social media to share the news about her Telugu debut. “My Tollywood debut is going to be Ratsasan in Telugu again as your’s loving Ammu,” wrote the actress.

The movie went on floors last month. Ghibran, who composed music for the Ratsasan, will serve as the music director on the Telugu remake as well. Bellamkonda Sreenivas will reportedly sport a new look for the film.

The yet-to-be-titled film is produced by Satyanarayana Koneru who had acquired the remake rights of the Tamil original. According to a report in DC, the director and producer were supposed to team up for a different movie before the Ratsasan remake cropped up. “Ramesh Varma was supposed to team up with producer Satyanarayana Koneru for a love story. He even readied the script, but just when things were set for the production, he chanced upon the remake of Ratsasan,” said a source.

Initial reports stated that Rakul Preet Singh and Raashi Khanna were being considered for the role played by Amala Paul in the original. However, Malayalam actress Anupama Parameswaran was later signed on, reported ToI. The actress had debuted with the Malayalam film Premam, and has starred in a number of Telugu and Tamil films. Her most recent Telugu film was Hello Guru Prema Kosame.

Vishnu Vishal, who played the lead role in the original, had acquired the Hindi remake rights even before the release of the original. The actor said that he felt confident enough with the movie that he went ahead and bought the rights without waiting to see how it performed at the box office. Directed by Ramkumar, Ratsasan also featured Kaali Venkat and Munishkanth in pivotal roles. Produced by Dilli Babu under the banner Axess Film Factory, the film featured Vishnu as a cop on the chase for a serial killer of young girls.
