Amitabh Bachchan has started shooting for his debut Tamil film Uyarntha Manithan. Directed by T Tamilvannan, the movie will be shot as a bilingual and would mark actor-director SJ Suryah’s Hindi debut.
SJ Suryah, who took to social media to make the announcement, also shared a working still from the sets that showed the first look of Bachchan’s character from the movie. In the picture, a dhoti-clad Bachchan can be seen wearing a red shawl, against the backdrop of a rural household.
In another picture, the Iraivi actor and Bachchan are seen looking at a phone and sharing a light moment. SJ Suryah also called the experience of working with Bachchan, ‘the happiest moment of his life’.

Interestingly, the film takes its title from a 1968 Sivaji Ganesan starrer. That film was an adaptation of the Bengali film Uttar Purush.
The title of this film is believed to be a hat tip to Amitabh Bachchan’s height. The producer had previously said that it was just one of the reasons for taking up the old title.
The movie marks the reunion of Tamilvaanan and SJ Suryah after Kalvanin Kadhali. Talking about the casting of Amitabh Bachchan, the director had said in a press statement, “What else can I ask for? This is more than a dream come true for me to have the country’s most celebrated superstar Amitabh Bachchan sir onboard… Moreover, the greater dream of directing Big B sir coming true through SJ Suryah sir has made me very excited.”
Uyarndha Manithan will be jointly produced by Thiruchendur Murugan Productions and Five Elements Pictures.
Amitabh Bachchan will be shortly making his debut in Telugu too. He has been cast alongside Chiranjeevi in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The movie, produced by Ram Charan, also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupati and Tamannaah.
