Actor Akshay Kumar recently announced his new movie Mission Mangal based on India’s Mars mission. The film forms a part of the three-film deal signed by Akshay Kumar and Fox Studios.
Made in collaboration with R Balki, the film is helmed by debutant Jagan Shaki. Apart from Sharman Joshi, the movie boasts a stellar female cast comprising Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Kulhari and South Indian actress Nithya Menen.
Akshay Kumar, who took to social media to make the announcement, pointed out that it was a ‘complete coincidence’ that he was making the announcement on the day the mission was launched – November 5.

About the association with the actor, the CEO of Fox Studios Vijay Singh said “With Jolly LLB 2, Fox Star Studios and Akshay Kumar delivered one of the biggest hits of 2017 – it gives me great pleasure to take our association with Akshay further with this three-film partnership with Cape Of Good Films.”
Akshay Kumar, who currently awaits the release of 2.0 in which he plays the villain, said he was delighted to be partnering with the studio. “I am looking forward to creating a collaboration that will deliver a meaningful and entertaining cinematic experience. With our combined energies, we hope to create content that not only excites but also empowers.”
2.0 sees him pairing opposite Rajinikanth. Directed by Shankar, the movie has reportedly been produced on a budget of Rs 500 crores making it the most expensive Indian film. Produced by LYCA studios, the movie that saw many release postponements will finally hit screens on November 29.
The actor is currently shooting for Housefull 4, and also has Kesari that will release next year. Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari stars Parineeti Chopra and is centered on the Battle of Saragarhi. Gold and Padman were the actor’s movies that released this year.
