Actress Meena Turns Cop For ‘Karoline Kamakshi’; Makes Her Digital Foray

Meena, Giorgia Andriani At The 'Karoline Kamakshi' Web Series Launch

Actress Meena has entered the digital entertainment with Karoline Kamakshi, a Tamil web series. The first-look poster of the Zee5 original released yesterday. Trend Loud Digital India will produce the series; this is its 10th production venture and fourth association with Zee5, after America Mappillai, What’s Up Velakari & What’s up Panimanishi.

Directed by Vivek Kumar Kannan, a former associate of director Bala, the series is reportedly an action-packed comedy-drama. Vivek has worked as an executive producer for many films and is also the director of the upcoming Tamil feature Boxer starring Arun Vijay and Ritika Singh.

The poster features Meena and Italian model Giorgia Andriani riding a yellow Vespa. They sport funky attire, look back and point their guns to the camera — it basically looks like two women doing something they like.

Zee5 took to Twitter to release the poster on Meena’s birthday.

Sources told Silverscreen that the story reportedly is about two cops, Karoline of Interpol and Kamakshi of CBI, who have contradicting personalities, but get together to track down a dangerous mafia don. While Karoline is French, Kamakshi is an Indian, and are played by Giorgia and Meena, respectively. The cast is reportedly filled with newbies, but also stars YG Mahendran in a significant role. The series has been shot in Puducherry and Chennai.

The 10-episode first season of Karoline Kamakshi will soon air on Zee5, and it is said that talks are on for a second season.

Meanwhile, Meena will also be seen in the bilingual Shylock, co-starring Mammootty, which is currently in production. She is also a part of ‘Lollupa’, a comedy show on Sun TV.

This series will mark a significant departure in the way Meena has been portrayed in cinema and TV so far. She’s a proven performer, but has been relegated to playing soft roles. Hopefully, Karoline Kamakshi will help change that perception.
