Actor-screenwriter Sreenivasan was admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam yesterday morning after he complained of breathing problems. The 62-year-old is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), on ventilator support.
According to reports, the duty doctor was quoted as saying, “He showed symptoms of a small heart failure, with water filling the lungs and high BP. We have given medicines to bring down the BP and moved him to ventilator support. There’s a small improvement but as long as he’s on ventilator support, we need to monitor him carefully. For at least 24 hours. We are waiting for more details. We have briefed his immediate relatives.”
His younger son Dhyan Sreenivasan is reportedly with him at the hospital. Actors Nivin Pauly and Aju Varghese are also present. Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan’s elder brother is on his way to Kochi.
Sreenivasan was dubbing at Lal studios when he complained of a breathing problem, following which he was rushed to the hospital. A statement issued by the hospital read, “Actor Sreenivasan, aged 62 years, presented to the emergency department of this hospital on 30.01.2019 at 9:46 am with complaints of acute breathlessness, following physical exertion. The patient was hemodynamically unstable on presentation, suggestive of acute left ventricular failure, warranting admission to Intensive Coronary Care Unite where he was intubated and ventilated in view of his poor oxygen saturation following persisting dysponea. He is being treated by a team of specialists consisting of cardiologist, intensivist, anesthesiologist and physician.”
Hailing from Kannur district, Sreenivasan has acted in more than 200 films and also written for numerous movies. His collaborations with directors Priyadarshan and Sathyan Anthikkad lead to a slew of popular films. His movies were characterized by their satirical quality. Sathyan Anthikkad’s Njan Prakashan, starring Fahadh Faasil, was the actor’s latest release. The movie was also scripted by him.
