Jai’s next film has been titled Balloon. Directed by debutant Sinish, the film has Anjali playing the female lead. This is the second time Jai and Anjali are pairing up.
With this film, Jai becomes the newest entrant to the horror film bandwagon. Director Sinish insists that it is not just another run of the mill horror film. “The screenplay of the film will have the same formula as successful horror films of the past, but the plot of the film is completely different,” he said. The project was officially kick-started earlier this week.

Balloon is being produced by TN Arun Balaji and Kandasamy Nandhakumar of 70 MM Films, along with stunt choreographer-turned-actor Dhilip Subbarayan of Farmer’s Master Plan Production. The technical crew includes cinematographer R Saravanan, editor Ruben, stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan, dance choreographer Sherif, costume designer NJ Sathya, and art director Shakthi Venkataraj.
Jai and Anjali first co-starred in Engeyum Eppodhum (2011), which had the distinction of being Fox Studios’ first Tamil production. The film went on to win many accolades for its cast and crew. Since then, Jai has not churned out a hit. His Valiyavan and Pugazh did not fare well at the box office. Anjali’s role in Iraivi came in for much acclaim and she’s signed several new films since then.
