Actor Abhimanyu Ramanandan Dies In Road Accident In Trivandrum

31-year-old actor Abhimanyu Ramanandan, known for his music album Mounam Sollum Varthaikal, died in a road accident in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday night.

He was on his bike at NH 7, near Assan Memorial in Thonnaykkal, Thiruvananthapuram, when a car rammed on him. It was around 12 am. The police arrived soon and rushed him to a medical college hospital, but his life could not be saved.

A Managalapuram police officer says in a TNM report that Abhimanyu died before he was taken to the hospital. The IT professional and cine star, who has acted in a couple of Malayalam films, was returning home after attending the International Film Festival happening in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to a report by The Hindu, a 34-year-old man called Afzal from Avanavancherry in Attingal, the northern suburb of Trivandrum, was accused in the case, and arrested on Sunday by the Mangalapuram police. The report says Afzal had fled after the accident and was later caught by the police. He was booked under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC, and let off on bail.

Abhimanyu is survived by his wife Arya Raj and children Janaki and Janani. His body was cremated at his home. Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his death.

The actor was well-known for his role in the Malayalam drama thriller Dakini, and in the drama Ottamuri Velicham, both directed by Rahul Riji Nair. Ottamuri Velicham won four State Film Awards in 2017, including the Best Feature Film of the year.

It was a romantic drama about the silent love of a girl (played by Vinitha Koshy) for a man (Abhimanyu) who was popular among youngsters. The video garnered over 1 lakh views in 36 hours of its release on YouTube. It currently has more than 13 million views.
