A.R. Rahman To Direct Shah Rukh Khan For The Hockey World Cup Anthem

A.R. Rahman, who last donned the director’s hat in 1997 for his music video Vande Mataram, returns to direct Shah Rukh Khan for the hockey world cup anthem. Titled ‘Jai Hind Hind, Jai India’ lyrics of the song have been composed by Gulzar while the music has been composed by Rahman himself.

Shah Rukh Khan who took to social media to make the announcement confirmed that Ravi Varman will be the cinematographer for the video. Both the actor and the music composer will be a part of the opening ceremony of the Hockey World Cup 2018, scheduled to take place in Odisha on November 27. The Oscar-winning composer will also be performing at the event.

The fourteenth edition of the competition will be held in the state of Odisha from November 28 to December 16. Rahman through a press release said that “The song has given me the privilege of singing in India’s honour as we get ready to host the Hockey World Cup in Odisha next month.”

The music director, whose compositions for Mani Ratnam’s latest movie Chekka Chivantha Vanam has been well received, awaits the release of Vijay’s Sarkar. He is also waiting for the release of Shankar’s magnum opus 2.0.

Shah Rukh Khan, who was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s 2017- movie Jab Harry Met Sejal has Aanand L Rai’s Zero which is scheduled to release in December this year. Also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, the movie will see the actor playing a dwarf.
