Director-producer A.R.Murugadoss’ much anticipated Tamil-Telugu bilingual, starring Mahesh Babu, has gone on floors. Known as Mahesh 23, the movie is said to be an action-thriller. Actress Rakul Preet will be the female lead.
Initially, it was reported that actress Parineeti Chopra would be making her Telugu debut with this film. Later, rumours said that Shruthi Haasan or Keerthy Suresh would bag the role. However, it was later announced that actress Rakul Preet Singh would be replacing her.

Rakul Preet Singh debuted in Telugu and Tamil cinema in 2012 with Keralam and Thadaiyara Thaakka respectively. The actress will also be seen in the Telugu remake of Thani Oruvan with actor Ram Charan. The movie is titled Dhruva.
Mahesh 23, produced by Tagore Madhu (Ghajini), will have music by Harris Jayaraj.
AR Murugadoss is awaiting the release of his Hindi project Akira, which is an official Hindi remake of Santha Kumar’s directorial debut in Tamil, Mouna Guru (2011). The movie has actress Sonakshi Sinha playing the lead role. The film marks music director Anirudh Ravichander and actor Raai Laxmi’s debut in Bollywood.

Meanwhile, there has also been rumours that Mahesh Babu will be working with director Atlee of Raja Rani fame. A source close to the director said, “Mahesh has wanted to collaborate with Atlee for quite a while now. The director, who was recently in Hyderabad, met Mahesh on the sets of Brahmotsavam, where he narrated a story idea. Mahesh expressed interest in the project and asked Atlee to develop it into a script”.
