Yogi Babu & The Team Of Pariyerum Perumal Kickstart Promotions Of The Film

Pariyerum Perumal Movie Stills Starring Kathir and Anandhi

In Pariyerum Perumal, Yogi Babu plays a law college student and a friend of the protagonist played by actor Kathir. In a recently released promotional video, the actor said that sitting inside a college classroom made him think as he had quit his education after failing the 10th standard board exam.

“I had nothing to do after I failed my 10th standard exam. All my friends went for further education and I was left alone. When I played the role of a student in Pariyerum Perumal, it gave me an idea of how life would have been if I’d gone to college. Back then, all my dreams were about college.”

The actor was worried that he didn’t look the part of a law college student, but director Mari Selvaraj assured him that he’s fit for the role.

“Mari explained every single scene in the movie like he was there. He spoke from a place of experience. The thing that worried him was me employing humour in inappropriate places. He would tell me to take it easy in some serious scenes. I would behave normally and wouldn’t do anything funny. Later, when I saw myself on-screen, I realised that even I could emote seriously.”

Yogi Babu said that comedians need not be funny all the time. “Charlie Chaplin was a serious man, even though he was known for his humour. At one point, he had said that he would only cry in the rain. I am the same way.”

Pariyerum Perumal is Mari Selvaraj’s answer to the things he has witnessed. It’s like Ajith Kumar’s character in Citizen, he added.

Meanwhile, the team of Pariyerum Perumal ran a promotional campaign #PariyerumPerumalPet as part of which they asked celebrities to post photos with their pets (a dog is one of the leads in the film) on social media.

Here are some tweets:

Mari Selvaraj said that the intention behind this activity was to unite all pet lovers. “The character of Pariyerum Perumal is all heart for his Karuppi. There are many people like him who would do anything for their pets. We wanted to hear their stories.”

The film celebrates the bond between humans and their faithful canine companions, Selvaraj said. “This love between a human and his pet has been documented through the ages. I wanted to show a certain socio-economic reality through this story. The relationship between Pariyerum Perumal and Karuppi anchors the film.”
