Actor and Producer Vishal Krishna has responded to the PMK founder S Ramadoss’s criticism for posing with a beer bottle in hand in the poster of his upcoming Ayogya. Vishal has said he was simply holding the bottle, not drinking from it.
The first look poster, which was unveiled on Monday, shows actor Vishal sitting atop a police jeep holding a beer bottle.
According to a report, the actor said, “I was just holding the beer bottle and not drinking. Holding doesn’t mean drinking. I play a cop in the film and there is a scene in which the bottle is the evidence for my investigation. That is what we tried conveying in the poster.”
On Tuesday, politician and founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Dr S Ramadoss, had tweeted asking Vishal to withdraw the first-look poster immediately. He had said, “What is the actor trying to tell his fans through this poster? I expect some social responsibility from the Secretary of Nadigar Sangam. I had written to him about banning scenes that show smoking, but now, I see him holding beer bottles.”
A spokesperson for Ayogya told Silverscreen: “The film is a commercial cop thriller which will focus on child sexual harassment. Fifty percent of the shoot is complete and the movie is expected to release in the month of January or February.”
Ayogya is Vishal’s 26th film as an actor. Produced by Light House Movie Makers in association with B Madhu Productions, the film has Raashi Khanna playing the female lead, and R Parthiepan, KS Ravikumar, Sachu, Vamsi and Pooja in pivotal roles. Sam CS is composing music for this film with cinematography by R Karthik. Ruben is in charge of editing, and Ram Lakshman will choreograph the stunts.
Directed by debutant Venkat Mohan, a former assistant of AR Murugadoss, Ayodhya is a remake of the Tollywood film Temper – an action drama written by Vakkantham Vamsi and directed by Puri Jagannadh, with Junior NTR and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. Ranveer Singh is starring in the Hindi remake of the film.
