Filmmaker and music composer Vishal Bhardwaj’s next directorial venture will focus on Osama bin Laden and the history of the terrorist network, from 2001 to present times. According to PTI, Bhardwaj will be adapting the novel The Exile: The Stunning Inside Story of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda in Flight, and has named his film Abbottabad.
The book, written by Catherine Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy, is an insider’s account of Al-Qaeda after 9/11. The two investigative journalists, having gained access to Osama bin Laden’s inner circle, recount watching bin Laden’s rising paranoia over his eroding control over the organisation.
The film will be bankrolled by Bhardwaj and Junglee Pictures. Other details regarding cast and crew are yet to be revealed.
