Vijay Sethupathi At The 'Sindhubaadh' Audio Launch

Vijay Sethupathi turned singer for Vijay Deverakonda’s Dear Comrade anthem song recently, which is trending online. The song has also released in Telugu, sung by Devarakonda, and in Malayalam by Dulquer Salmaan.

Sethupathi raises slogans in this song, featuring the lead as a student leader. It is inching towards one million views on YouTube.

Deverakonda also shared the Malayalam and Telugu versions last week.

The film, directed by Barath Kamma, releases on July 26 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna were recently in Kochi, Bengaluru and Chennai to promote the music, composed by Justin Prabhakaran, and took part in a music concert.

Deverakonda said during the press meet in Chennai: “I think this is the best album in my career so far. The highlight is that two top actors – Vijay Sethupathi and Dulquer Salmaan readily signed on to sing the ‘Comrade Album’ for us. It’s a special song that sums up the film.”

Devarakonda plays a student leader in the film, and said that the story would resonate with all, but added that it was not a political film. “It’s about a friend and a regular college boy who fights for what he believes in. This is not a political story; it’s a straightforward love story,” he said.

Rashmika plays Lily, a State-level cricket player and his neighbour. She said, “I was hesitant when I was approached for the role. I’m an athlete in real life but I’ve not played cricket before. I practised for about five months under a trainer, and the result is what you see in the trailer.”

The film also stars other under-19 players, who are part of her team. It is produced by Y Naveen, Y Ravi Shankar and CV Mohan under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is busy with a number of films, including Kadaisi Vivasayi, Sanga Tamizhan, Laabam, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Maamanithan and Uppenna. Latest reports say that he is in talks to play Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralidaran in a biopic.
