Vetrimaaran told Silverscreen that he cannot comment on his next project yet. However, according to a report by India Today, Vetrimaaran has met Soori, who is likely to give his nod. The film will be backed by Elred Kumar for RS Infotainment, the producers of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and Yamirukka Bayamen.

With this project, Soori is the next comedian to turn hero after Vadivelu, Santhanam and Yogi Babu, among others. He was recently seen in Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu 2 and has director Vijay Chander’s Sanga Tamizhan under production.

Meanwhile, the shoot for Vetrimaaran’s Asuran is nearing completion. Dhanush, who stars in a double role as father and son in the film, recorded one of the songs titled ‘Polladha Bhoomi’ last month, and tweeted saying it was a peppy track.

Composer GV Prakash has reportedly completed work on the music for the film. A teaser is expected to release on July 28, on Dhanush’s birthday.

Dhanush and Vetrimaaran will also soon resume work on Vada Chennai 2. There were reports that the film was shelved due to opposition from the residents of North Chennai, where the film is set. However, both the actor and director confirmed that the news was false.
