Selvaraghavan To Direct Suriya’s Next; Fate Of Projects With STR And Santhanam Unclear

Director Selvaraghavan will direct Suriya for his next film. The project, Suriya’s 36th, will be produced by SR Prabhu under his Dream Warrior Pictures banner. The project was announced by the actor through his official Twitter account. Predictably, it began to trend on social media almost immediately.

Selvaraghavan’s next film has been a source of intense speculation lately. In July, he announced on his Twitter account that he would be collaborating with Santhanam for his next project.

Last month, Silverscreen reported that the director had met actor Vijay at the residence of actor Prabhu Ganesan (Annai Illam) and that a project together was imminent.  An earlier project with STR titled Kaan – which the director put on a hold “temporarily,” due to financial issues,  seems to have been dropped.

Selvaraghavan is currently busy with the post-production work on Nenjam Marappathillai, a horror comedy starring SJ Surya and Regina Cassandra.  He reportedly will begin work on Suriya 36 right after.

Suriya’s regard for Selvaraghavan is well-known. At the audio launch of Irandaam Ulagam, the actor had said:  “I have seen Selva over the years and he is one director who doesn’t compete with anyone in the industry. This is because he mostly competes with himself and even supersedes his own effort with each film.”

The actor is expected to start working on the Selvaraghavan movie after he is done working on  Thaana Serndha Koottam with Vignesh Shivan at the helm. His Singham 3 is all set to release on December 2016.
