Samantha Ruth Prabhu will act with Sivakarthikeyan for the first time, in an upcoming movie to be directed by Pon. Ram. According to a story in the Indian Express, the film will feature Samantha showing off her Silambam skills. This answers the question many people have been asking: Why was Samantha practicing Silambam in that video that went viral?
The as-yet-untitled film will also be Sivakarthikeyan and Pon. Ram’s third collaboration, after Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam, and Rajini Murugan. This one will be produced by 24AM Studios, and is billed as a rural film, much like VVS. Samantha is said to play a fearless, strong woman, and hence the Silambam. Shooting will begin in July.

A report in Dinamalar speculates that this will be Samantha’s last film in Tamil, before her wedding with Naga Chaitanya. Meanwhile, she is starring opposite Raju Charan Teja in a film referred to as RC11, and will play a crucial role in Mahanati, the biopic on Savithri. She is also working on Thyagarajan Kumararaja’s Aneethi Kaigal.
Sivakarthikeyan, meanwhile, is wrapping up Velaikaran, which has Nayanthara in the lead. Also produced by 24AM Studios, it is directed by Mohan Raja.
