Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has set many records, including being the second highest grossing film in India and the most googled film, however, it’s popularity has not waned. It will now be screened at the Pakistan International Film Festival in Karachi.

The film’s director SS Rajamouli has also been invited to the film festival.

Baabubali 2 opened across 100 theatres in Pakistan last year and has reportedly been received well. Apart from Baahubali, the festival will screen films like Dear Zindagi, Hindi Medium and Kadvi Hawa.

In 2016, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association banned Pakistani actors from working in India, following the Uri attack. In recent times, Aamir Khan refused to release Dangal in Pakistan after their censor board demanded that two scenes involving the Indian flag and anthem be cut. After initial opposition, Padmaavat was released in Pakistan, while Anushka Sharma’s Pari was banned for promoting “black magic, some non-Islamic values and anti-Muslim sentiments”.

Pakistan shares a long history with Bollywood, with their artistes working in India and Hindi films have had an influence on its pop culture. The three Khans of Bollywood are quite popular, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale or Salman Khan’s Sultan and Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 and PK were fan favourites there.
